Director's Bios

Meet our Directors:

Mr. Christopher Williamson

MrWilliamson.jpgMr. Williamson is an experienced actor/singer/dancer/director.  As a professional actor he has performed in a variety of venues including Casa Manana and Dallas Summer Musicals.  He has performed professionally in such roles as “Tulsa” in Gypsy, “Jesus” in Godspell, and “Japeth” in Two by Two.  He spent over two years as “Jinx” in Casa Manana’s Forever Plaid

He is an award winning choreographer for college, show choir, and professional theatre.  His theatre students have been nomitated for more than 50 Betty Buckley Awards and won several.   His UIL student productions have advanced to Area, Regional, and State levels and students have received many acting awards.  Since coming to BHS, Suessical received nine Betty Buckley nominations, including Best Musical.  In 2009 The Boyfriend received seven nominations and won two - Best Musical and Excellence in Lighting Design.  And in 2010, Bye Bye Birdie recieved 10 nominations and won 4 - including Best Musical, Best Student Orchestra, Best Scenic Design, and Best Lighting Design. 

Mr. Williamson began teaching at BHS in August 2007 and under his leadership the program has grown into one of the largest fine arts programs in Birdville ISD. 
  • In 2007 his students performed three major productions-  Metamorphoses, Seussical: The Musical, and Flowers for Algernon, the UIL One-Act-Play entry.  
  • 2008-2009 featured 4 main stage productions - Musical Comedy Murders of the 1940's, Dark of the Moon, The Boyfriend (winner of the 2009 Betty Buckley Award for Best Muscial), and the UIL one-act play, Blood Wedding
  • 2009-2010 featured The Triangle Factory Fire Project, Bye Bye Birdie (winner of the 2010 Betty Buckley Award for Best Musical), and the UIL one-act play, Radium Girls (advanced to Regional UIL competition.)  BHS also presented several smaller productions with the help of guest directors Stacy Schronk and Misty Venters and student director Danielle Ellis; Steel Magnolias; Dearly Departed; The Twits, Jill The Ripper, and Velveteen Rabbit: The Movie presented  to the elementary schools.  All in addition to our annual Coffee Shop in the Fall and StudioFest in May.
